Pitbauchlie House Hotel - Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

The Pitbauchlie had been my favourite hotel in the Dunfermline area. It is a Best Western now but little has changed in layout, fittings and rooms since I visited regularly pre 2008. Notwithstanding this I like the comfortable familiarness of the hotel. It is good that the shower room was completely updated with modern shower and claddings which have updated it nicely. We asked for a downstairs room once we realised there is no lift to the upper rooms. This was sorted straightaway. It is, perhaps time a lift is fitted. On a good note the breakfasts were full of lovely items, prunes and grapefruit dried fruits! Full english and selection of items wad lovely

Pitbauchlie had a slightly “step back in time “ feel to it which we really enjoyed. It was very quiet and comfortable and the bars and restaurant were warm and welcoming. The gardens are beautiful, and surprisingly, in the middle of October,on one of our days, we were able to sit out and enjoy some late Autumn sunshine. I can only imagine that in the summer months it would be idyllic.

Stayed for 2 nights - loved the size of room and the bathroom with bath tub. Bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed. Staff super friendly and very welcoming and helpful with our questions about getting around the area and to Edinburgh.The restaurant and bar was also on site so we didn’t need to go anywhere for dinner or breakfast. Though there are shops within 5 min walk if you wanted to. Thank you was perfect place to stay - highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for three nights, while we went on an excursion. The hotel has an excellent structure, the staff are friendly and polite. The room is spacious, warm, smells nice, clean and has an excellent shower! However, there are some points that could be improved: - During the days that we were staying, the mugs that we used were not washed or changed. - I only had breakfast one day at the hotel, because the quality of the hot chocolate was very poor. I complained to the professional who was serving us, I told him that the hot chocolate tasted strange, that it seemed like it had water in it and he replied: “We usually make it with milk, but today we made it with water, so it’s just water and chocolate powder!”. I’m not from Scotland, I don’t know if it’s customary there to make hot chocolate with just water and chocolate powder, but I really thought it was strange and bad. - There’s no telephone in the room, so to speak to the reception you have to go there. But without a doubt, we would stay at the hotel again. Congratulations to the entire team!

It was easy to find with ample parking and, from the reception staff to the waitresses everyone was welcoming and efficient but not officious. The room was clean and spacious with a bath and good toiletries. Food was excellent value for money and both the venison casserole and steak pie were not only tasty but also the meat was so tender. The grounds were well laid out and, were we to stay in the summer, would be an ideal place to sit outside. Highly recommended!
